On Sunday, students were able to relax and sleep in. Yeah! Evan said it was delightful to catch up on some much needed shut eye. In the afternoon, the Irish Life Experience students were lucky enough to go to the Leinster Gaelic Football Finals at Croke Park-Dublin vs. Wexford. It was a special treat and many said it was the best day yet. Since Dan and Edel are from Dublin, they convinced the students to cheer for the Dubs. The students dressed up in colors of blue and white and even painted their faces. A few of them also bought matching blue leggings for 4 Euros at Penney's and were ready to cheer on the Dubs in style. Students stopped to buy Dublin flags and scarves on their way into the stadium from local vendors-to add to their attire. The ILE were definitely proud supporters of Dublin-no doubt about it. Sasha Fierce said it was an incredible atmosphere at Croker. Before the game began, the Irish National Anthem was sung. Edel said it was such a special moment to see all of the Irish Life Experience students singing it by heart in Gaelic. She was so honored to be a part of the program and a tad misty eyed. "It's amazing to see so many young Irish Americans interested in Irish culture and helping keep it alive," she said. As the game went on, Ryan said it was fun to listen to the chants from both Dublin and Wexford. Levi said he enjoyed belting out, "Come on ye boys in blue, come on ye boys in blue!" "I’m going to marry a Gaelic football player. They are studly," Fiona chimed in. Sallie agreed. It was a close game throughout, but in the end the Dubs pulled away and won the game with a score of 2-13 to 1-13. Tom said he can't wait for the All Ireland Finals and speculates that Dublin will be prime contenders for the trophy. Raizel said it was an amazing day and summed it up by simply saying, "Up the Dubs!" We ended the day by returning to King's Hospital and having a brilliant game of Capture the Flag. Levi said it was very exciting and he said both teams ended up winning one game each. He gave mad props to Skoot for guarding his team's flag!
