The ILE left JFK last night at 9:40 PM and arrived Dublin Airport safe and sound at 9:10 AM this morning. All of the students made the Aer Lingus flight and there weren't too many delays or lost luggage. Phew! We even lucked out and had a brand new plane with tv's in every seat, so the students were lucky enough to watch and assortment of movies and play games to help pass time during the six hour flight. The students met their Irish teachers and traveled to Glendalough-Valley of the Two Lakes-in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains. For those of you who have seen the movie, PS I Love You, this is where some of it was filmed. It's a beautiful area of Ireland and rich in history. It's a Monastic site with a Round Tower. The students walked around the smaller lake, stretched their legs, got some fresh air, and ate a packed lunch, before getting on the bus to travel to Waterford-their post until the 12th. The students are jet legged and the exhaustion is finally setting in. They arrived Newtown Boarding School and are getting settled, taking showers, and depositing their passports and money into the ILE Bank. We will be eating dinner soon, having a brief Orientation, and doing some fun ice-breakers to get to know each other. We have a feeling it's going to be a very early night, as the eyelids of many are getting very heavy. They are ALL wonderful students and doing well. We will try to post a few pictures later. Slan.
