Meet More ILE Staff

Trying to describe Dan Parkinson is perhaps as difficult, and rewarding, as trying to encapsulate the beauty of a rose, the misty equanimity of a morning lake, or a child's first steps. His many facets and talents inspire all who get a chance to meet him. After leaving home at the age of five on a competitive juggling scholarship, Dan had a chance to travel the finer parts of Ireland and Montenegro. With a quick tour in the Maghreb with the Legionairres under his belt, Dan returned to Ireland to open up a little shop specializing in hard-to-find Japanese cinema. A chance meeting with Taryn Harrison in the back of a Garda patrol car was all that Dan needed to know that he was ready to work with American students. Don't worry parents, sometimes we like to have a little fun, as Counselor Pete wrote Dan's biography. It's all false:). The real truth is that Dan originally hails from Dublin. He's a "Dub" through and through. He is a high school teacher at Terenure College in Dublin. He has been working with American students for the past two years and loves it! He has been to the states a few times, as he has relatives there and is looking forward to coming and visiting all of the new ILE students and their families in the future. He's also a Red Sox fan! Dan teaches Gaelic, Irish American history, and Irish history to the students. He's an avid rugby fan and fantastic player and will be giving a Rugby Workshop to the students in Dublin. He's excited about this summer and is especially looking forward to impromptu music sessions with the students, as he has a beautiful voice.
