In Dublin's Fair City...

On Wednesday, the ILE spent the day in Dublin..., and what a day it was! We first started out at the Yeats' Exhibition. Through the National Library of Ireland, it explores the life and works of William Butler Yeats. A very impressive display. "Cast a cold Eye On Life, on Death, Horseman Pass By." -W.B. Yeats. From the Yeats' Exhibition, we couldn't help but stop around the corner at the National Art Gallery in Ireland to see the Caravaggio's-Taking of Christ. A once in a lifetime opportunity for the students-even if they didn't appreciate art. We then decided to make our way to the Guinness Brewery-where we were able to tour all seven stories of the Factory. Taryn was even able to start her own brew with her name on it. So cool. We stopped at the Gravity Bar for our free cokes, before we stocked up on souvenirs at the Guinness Storehouse. After all of our visits, we had a very important tour at the President's House-Áras an Uachtaráin-in Phoenix Park. With the students in their best dress, we were greeted by Keith Mulderry, who would give us the tour of the four bottom rooms of the President's House. Secretary to the President, Tim O'Connor, also stopped by to say hi, which was a special treat. The ILE enjoyed tea and biscuits and were able to get some quality pictures. Keith was an excellent host and we truly enjoyed his knowledge. Plus, in the last room, River, Jordan, Pete, and Conor were able to play on the President's Steinway piano. Amazing! Even though the President was in Navan with her family, most of the students agreed it was still well worth the visit.
