The 4th of July's festivities began after drama and dance. In drama, students began researching important political figures in Irish history for their presentations. In dance, students reviewed and practiced the Siege of Ennis and Walls of Limerick steps and are almost ready for Riverdance. Dan slaved away on the grill and we started the evening out with a BBQ of hamburgers and hot dogs. Crisps, egg rolls, chips, and sweets added to the dinner. Skoot said he really enjoyed a little taste of home. Afterwards, Levi organized the Counselor Olympics. This consisted of a discus toss, dizzy hurley races, egg relays, wheel barrow sprints, and a water balloon toss. It was a close competition, but in the end the team of Evatron, Fi, MC, and Taryn came up with the win. They received a delicious bag of Irish sweets for their stellar skills. The holiday ended with an American movie and more food..., Domino's pizza. Dee-lish! Sasha Fierce said it was the most extravagant 4th of July celebration she had ever experienced. Raizel said that she had never eaten so much food in one day. While there were no fireworks or sparklers, Taryn said it was special to simply share the 4th with amazing ILE students. The day could not have been better!
