The Irish Life Experience spent Tuesday in Dublin. Students had the option of doing various tours throughout the day, such as the Book of Kells, Dublin Castle, Jameson Distillery, the Guinness Brewery, the National Art Museum, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Many spent their time wisely, exploring the historical sites of Dublin first, before shopping for Irish souvenirs. Piper said she has enjoyed Dublin and Ireland so much, that she wants Taryn to convince her father to let her stay in Ireland permanently. Ha! Quite a few other students share Piper's love and request for Ireland as well. After a full day of Dublin, students went back to King's Hospital for dinner and to primp for Riverdance. You should have seen these ILE'ers-absolutely stunning. They are gorgeous kids! The Riverdance performance at the Gaiety was an innovative and exciting fusion of Irish and international dance. It propelled traditional dance and music into the present day, and captured the imagination of the audience. The ILE'ers could not stop raving about the fantastic show. Hannah said it was phenomenal. Scarlett was lucky enough to go back stage after the show and get signatures from all of the dancers. How lucky! All is well here in Dublin. We have been very busy lately, so I apologize if the past few posts haven't been quite as detailed. Tomorrow we are heading north to Belfast, Carrick-a-rede Bridge, and the Giant's Causeway. I'm hoping to catch you up on Friday from today and tomorrow, so expect a long entry then, with plenty of beautiful pictures. To end tonight's post, I had a conversation with a student today. I just had to share. This student asked me if there was such a thing as a happy ending in Irish history. It was a great question, and I’ll give you the same answer I gave them. The happy ending is the students that are with us on the Irish Life Experience. Grandchildren and great grandchildren of immigrants who left with nothing. Now returning home as interested and incredible young adults-thriving to learn more about Irish culture and incorporate it into their daily lives. It's simply amazing!
