Átha Cliath Bound

Hello ILE Families and Friends! On Saturday, the first part of our journey came to an end. Students departed our home in Waterford and headed north to the capital-Dublin. Everyone was able to have a lie in, in the morning and then it was time for our last meal with our wonderful kitchen ladies at Newtown Boarding School-. The drive to Dublin took nearly two hours and nearly everyone took that time to catch up on a bit more shut eye. Around 1:00 PM, we arrived in Dublin and ate our packed lunches in St. Stephen’s Green-Dublin’s largest and most varied park, whose setting is modeled after the Gregorian Age. After lunch, Dan took us on a walking tour of Dublin. We began walking down Dawson Street and passed several notable landmarks-including Trinity College-one of the oldest colleges in the world and Temple Bar-an area of Dublin’s city center housing trendy clubs, pubs, restaurants, and stores. Rachel said she liked Dan's funny comments along the informational route. We had about two hours in Dublin’s city center and then we loaded the bus for King’s Hospital-our new home for the next week. The atmosphere of this school is vastly different than that of Waterford. In Waterford, we were one of two small groups staying on the grounds, while there are nearly 300 other students staying at King's Hospital. There is a drama group, a sports camp, and an English language camp. The girls are staying in one dorm with five girls to one room and the boys are in a separate dorm with two boys to one room-both en suite. After getting settled in the rooms, it was time for dinner. The night ended with a disco, disco, disco. The girls got all dolled up and almost everyone was dancing the night away until 11:00 PM when the dance ended. Petey and Zach said they loved dancing to LMFAO! Exhausted after a long day, everyone was off to shower and the scratcher for a good night kip.
